Make it fit your situation
Use actual activities rather than assuming travel, volunteering, or grandchildren defined retirement.
A retirement story should not imply that every later year was carefree. Describe the routines or relationships the family actually remembers, leaving health and financial circumstances private unless requested.

An obituary can be accurate and affectionate without listing every event in a life. Confirm names and practical details with an appropriate family contact. Keep private information out unless the people involved have agreed to its publication.
