Printing
How Many Funeral Programs Should You Print?
A simple way to estimate copies without treating a fixed percentage as a rule.

Start with the expected guests
The right quantity depends on how the booklet will be handed out. If each person will receive one at the door, use the expected attendance as your starting number. If many guests arrive as families and will share, fewer may be enough; if relatives want copies for people who cannot attend, add those separately.
Ask the organizer or venue for the latest attendance estimate. It is more useful than relying on the seating capacity or a generic percentage from an online checklist.
Add named keepsakes and a modest extra
Write down the number requested by close family, friends who cannot attend, and anyone preserving one for an archive. Then add a small cushion for unexpected guests, smudged copies, or a printing mistake. A simple estimate is expected individual handouts plus reserved keepsakes plus contingency.
For example, a gathering expecting 45 guests might plan 45 handouts, 6 reserved copies, and a few extra sheets. That is an illustration, not a required formula. A smaller informal gathering or a service with digital sharing may need a different number.
Test before the full run
Print and fold one complete copy first. Once page order, scale, and photo quality are correct, use the same settings for the remaining sheets. If printing at a shop, ask about a proof and confirm whether the quoted quantity means folded finished booklets or flat sheets.
Frequently asked questions
Does every guest need a booklet?
Not necessarily. Decide whether you plan to hand one to each person or have guests share at a smaller gathering.
How many extras should I add?
Add the specific family keepsakes you know about, then a modest cushion that fits the event. There is no universal percentage.
Should I count the officiant and speakers?
Yes, if they will use or keep a copy. Include them in the handout or reserved count.
