Funeral Program Date Labels Explained

InMemoryStudio ·

Birth and death dates can be labeled plainly or with symbolic words. The choice is stylistic; a decorative label should never make the actual dates hard to understand.

Example wording

Born [Month Day, Year]. Remembered with love after their passing on [Month Day, Year].

Make it fit your situation

If using Sunrise and Sunset, make sure the family wants that language and that both dates are verified.

Plain labels such as Born and Passed away can help guests who do not recognize symbolic date language. Consistency is especially useful when the program is shared with relatives in another country.

Before you finish

A printed program has limited space. Give this message its own short block so it can be read without interrupting the order of service. Read the final version aloud before fitting it into the design.
