Names should be verified from one approved list rather than several message threads. A familiar spelling can still be wrong, particularly for middle names and compound surnames.
Proof one name at a time
Compare the cover, biography, pallbearer list, and acknowledgments with the same source. Read names character by character. Mark uncertain entries for the family instead of silently correcting them based on memory.
Final check
Keep the approval list outside the published program and retain a record of who confirmed the final spelling.
