Reviewing a Print Proof With the Family

InMemoryStudio ·

A proof review should look at facts and physical output separately. It is possible for a correct PDF to print with an incorrect crop or orientation.

A workable approach

First check name and dates. Then inspect crop, readable text, page order, front-to-back alignment, and final dimensions.

Make it fit your situation

Sign off only on the exact file and size that will be used for production.

Inspect the physical proof under ordinary room light, not only bright desk lighting. Contrast, glare, and small type may look different in the environment where guests will actually read the piece.

Before you finish

Make the decision before editing the final design, then record it where the family can find it. A clear owner and a saved final version reduce last-minute confusion. Keep the working notes separate from the tribute guests will read.
