A long surname can push the date line downward or make it feel attached to the wrong part of the heading. Fix the hierarchy before shrinking everything.
Treat the name as one unit
Use a natural name break, then place dates beneath a consistent gap. Keep suffixes with the name rather than on the date line. Remove unnecessary punctuation if the approved wording permits.
Final check
Make sure the date line stays within the safe area on both large and compact cards.
