Eulogy Excerpt for a Printed Program

InMemoryStudio ·

A spoken tribute can be condensed for print by retaining its central memory and closing idea. The excerpt should be labeled so it is not mistaken for the whole speech.

Example passage

From [Writer]'s remembrance: [Short approved passage]. Shared here as a keepsake of today's tribute.

Make it fit your situation

Ask the speaker to approve the excerpt; do not edit away the context that gives it meaning.

A printed excerpt should retain the speaker's meaning even when shortened. Choose a complete paragraph or two connected sentences, not the most dramatic fragment detached from its context.

Before you finish

Use the example as a starting point in your own voice. Read slowly, mark places to breathe, and rehearse aloud. Keep a printed copy available; a trusted person can read it if you are unable to continue.

Next step

Create a keepsake program to see the available designs and formats.
