Cropping a Group Photo Into a Memorial Portrait

InMemoryStudio ·

A group image may be the best available likeness. Check the face's actual resolution and leave enough room to avoid cutting through the head or shoulders.

Practical check

Create a duplicate, crop around the person, and inspect whether nearby faces or hands remain at the edge.

Make it fit your situation

Do not erase other people carelessly or invent facial detail when the original crop is too small.

A partial shoulder or another person's hand may remain in a crop. Decide whether it distracts before trying removal; a wider frame can preserve the original memory more honestly.

Before you finish

Use the final exported file for a test print before ordering the full quantity. Printer settings, paper, and trimming can change the result. Ask the print provider about its requirements rather than assuming that every machine behaves the same way.
