How to Choose a Memorial Poster Size

A practical size guide for tribute tables, easels, and entrances.

Start with where the poster will stand

A memorial poster should be readable from the place where guests will see it. A small tribute beside a guestbook has different needs from a welcome sign near the entrance. Decide on the display location first, then choose the size and image that suit it.

Three available sizes

All three are portrait poster sizes, but they do not share the same proportions. Check the crop in each selected size before downloading.

  • 12 × 18 inches: suited to a tribute table or smaller display where guests stand nearby.
  • 18 × 24 inches: a middle size for an easel or display area with more viewing distance.
  • 24 × 36 inches: a larger entrance or service display that needs a prominent portrait and easily readable name.

Photo quality matters more as size grows

A photograph that looks sharp on a phone can reveal blur or compression when enlarged. Start with the largest original photo available, not a small screenshot or a version sent repeatedly through messaging apps. Zoom into the face in the preview and look for softness or blocky edges.

The 18 × 24-inch version has a 3:4 shape; the 12 × 18 and 24 × 36-inch versions have a 2:3 shape. A portrait near an edge may crop differently. Review each selected size, especially the face and any text close to the border, before sending the file to print.

Frequently asked questions

What size is best for a tribute table?

A 12 × 18-inch poster often works when guests stand nearby. Check the table, easel, and viewing distance.

Which size is most visible at an entrance?

A larger 18 × 24 or 24 × 36-inch print may be easier to see across a room if the display stand supports it.

Do all sizes crop photos the same way?

No. The 18 × 24-inch option has a different proportion from the 12 × 18 and 24 × 36-inch options.
